Willy Wonka Inspiration: Chocolate Factory Birthday Theme

My favorite sister-in-law and I will be working our little booties off creating an adorable party centered around Charlie & The Chocolate Factory for my Niece's First Birthday. From the moment she told me her theme idea the wheels started turning; chocolate fountains, candy, Oompa-Loompas' and a whole lot of other chocolaty goodness!
Here's a little sneak peak at the invites I created.

This invitation and other Chocolate Factory Themed Birthday Party Printables will be available in my Etsy Shop sometime Mid April 2011. If you are interested in your own Chocolate Factory Printables before then please contact me.
Thanks for visiting my blog and good luck creating your own wonderful parties!

Ugly Doll Birthday Party

I am so excited to share this amazing party. About a month ago I was contacted by a friend from high school to create party printables for her son's first birthday. She decided on an Ugly Doll themed party and together we came up with this. She did an amazing job tying everything together, she even had an Ugly Doll factory where the little ones could go to create their own dolls, adorable!

Please Mind the Gap

Anyone who has traveled the London Underground is well aware of the "Mind the Gap" sign and public address as you enter the station platform.  I thought it would be well suited right about here since I'm in the midst of......something.....I'm not sure what to call it.  I don't even know how to fully describe it, but I'm going to run with it for a while.

In my previous post labeled "My New Years Resolution" I listed a few things I would like to accomplish this year. I started on #1 and was doing great, then my best friend (lets just call her Barbie) informed me she was joining a gym and getting a trainer. Now what kind of friend would I be if I let her do this on her own? (Plus the thought of standing next to "fitness Barbie" this summer - ummm yeah, I'll join with you!). Over a month later, I am down 10 pounds  - halfway there baby!

This is where my "gap" comes in.  I am working my "real job", taking care of my house and family, driving the big-little one to school, traveling most weekends with the kids, and exercising 5 days a week.  Plus I still try to plan play dates, have a date night every now and then, talk to my girl friends and work on custom orders. Phew.

I guess what I am trying to say is that I can't do it all - right now - all at the same time.  From the moment I found out I was preggo (just over 4 years ago), I gave up everything and gave my kids every single ounce of me. My little one will be 2 this June and I feel it is time for me to do something for myself.

Call it a Pre-30-Awakening or a Mini-Mommy Melt Down, whatever it is I am going through, I like it.  I have turned a new page and realized I still need "me" time.

Please mind the gaps in my posting while I work on me.  I am still here, I still LOVE creating party printables and I will continue to post new ideas and parties as they come. I just believe I need to get myself together before I start trying to get this company off the ground.

Here’s to achieving all of your goals this year!

Free Valentine's Day Favor Tags

I love those adorable little heart shaped candies that seem to appear right around January, they just melt my heart (well the orange ones do at least).  When I was trying to come up with favor tag ideas for my daughters class, conversation hearts immediately came to mind.  Here is my take on the sweet holiday favorite.

Monstrous Inspiration...Ugly Doll Birthday Party Ideas

A friend from high school recently contacted me to help her with her son's first birthday.  I jumped for joy at another chance to create adorable party printables.  She decided on an Ugly Doll Birthday Theme and once I checked out there website, I was in love.  Fun bright colors, plush little dolls so ugly they were cute - perfect!

I put together this inspiration board to help with the theme.

Starting from the top left, here are the links:

I hope my ideas help you create your own moster or Ugly Doll themed party, good luck creating!

My New Years Resolution

I have a few resolutions for the wonderful year of Twenty Eleven, which is something I never really have done.  I think it is because I don't believe in starting things that I don't plan on finishing, but this year feels different.  In no particular order here they are:

1. Start eating healthier (hopefully this will lead to a few less l-b's )
2. Stay focused on the task at hand (I tend to jump from one thing to the next and back to the first - it completely annoys me that I do this)
3. Organize/Finish the basement
4. Focus on my new business and give it a real chance. (By this I mean putting myself out there - the good, the bad and the ugly and hopefully getting a response either way)

Wish me luck, and good luck to everyone trying to set there own goals for 2011!

It all started with a little airplane

Here is a brief bio of how this all started.  I'm Cathy creative artist and owner of Five O' Five Design+Paperie, my online shop that specializes in printable party decor for any occasion.

I started out way back when in web site design, graduated college with a degree I will probably never use, and worked my way through a career in marketing & advertising. It wasn’t until the birth of my sweet little angel baby that I discovered my true passion for design.

Creating birth announcements and invitations really wasn’t too far off from my day job; in fact the only real difference was the excitement I had every time I received a new order. Business was good and it was the perfect little venture in-between all those late night feedings and early morning wake up calls.

Then baby no.2 came along and I had to close up shop. Between the 20+ hours I put in at my day job, the 150+ hours I put towards my family, there was just no time left for my passion. It was only when I started planning for my sons first birthday party that I found my true labor of love and myself again.

My goal for Five O’ Five Design+Paperie is to offer irresistible designs at affordable pricing. I hope you enjoy my shop as much as I enjoyed designing the items it in.

Here are a few images from my sons party.  Enjoy!

And here is the full airplane collection that I now offer in my Etsy Shop.
